Beyond the trenches

Find out all about the Great War on a full-day, fully taught learning session from our expert team.

Curriculum-Focused Learning

Our First World War visits support Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 history programmes, helping students to:

  • Understand the causes, events and impact of the First World War
  • Explore the experiences of soldiers and support services on the Western Front
  • Investigate the role of transport and supply chains in wartime success
  • Examine original artefacts, photographs and personal stories
  • Develop enquiry, observation and critical thinking skills

All of our workshops can be adapted to suit other Key Stages, home learners and groups with additional learning needs.

An Engaging Educational Experience

Through interactive displays and authentic historical objects, students can uncover the often-overlooked story of the Corps that kept Britain’s armies supplied throughout the conflict.

From horse-drawn wagons and early motor transport to frontline rationing and battlefield logistics, pupils will gain a deeper understanding of how millions of soldiers depended on an extraordinary network of support behind the front lines.
