Operation Overlord: The Logistic Build-Up to D-Day

Much has been written about D-Day and the Normandy campaign, but how the troops were marshalled, protected, fed, supplied, trained, hidden, armed and mended has not been well documented.  Since “Amateurs talk tactics, professionals study logistics,“* this seems an omission.

In this engaging talk, Lieutenant Colonel Chris Barrington Brown introduces the research behind his growing website, gained by trawling through thousands of files from UK, US and Canadian archives, into the logistical build-up to one of the best-known dates in British military history.  This talk is illustrated by a collection of maps, diagrams, photographs and reports which tell the story of Operation Overlord.  You can find the work-in-progress at www.ddaybuildup.info
