The Museum is the base of the RLC Horse-Drawn Heritage Team – a voluntary organisation working to protect and showcase horse-drawn military logistics vehicles. On Friday 6 February 2026 they will be at The Grand Military Gold Cup Day at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, Surrey to showcase their collection.
The Grand Military Gold Cup is an historic National Hunt steeplechase, first run in 1841, it is a centrepiece of a race day dedicated to celebrating the British Armed Forces. There will be a full range of military stands, displays and vehicles as well as a busy afternoon of races.
The Horse-Drawn Heritage Team have been invited to display the Mark X General Service Wagon from their collection and along with some members of the team dressed in WW1 uniform, will be able to explain and illustrate the role and importance of this horse-drawn vehicle during WW1.
The event is open to the general public and a number of schools have also booked a trip to explore the military stands and displays throughout the day. For full information and details of how to book your ticket, visit the Grand Gold Military Cup event webpage by clicking this link.
