If you have items relating to the history of the Corps that you would like to donate to us, we would be delighted to hear from you – a significant proportion of our collection has come to us through donation.

If you want to donate an item to us, please complete the online form on our contact page, or email information@rlcmuseum.com with as much information as possible. Photographs of any offered donations are particularly helpful. Our Collections Team will always aim to acknowledge your initial message within 5 working days.

Our Acquisitions Committee meet once a month to consider all new donations, after which we will be in touch to confirm next steps.

If we are able to accept your donation into the collection, we will advise on safe delivery of the item(s) to the museum, and we will ask you to complete a form that transfers ownership of the item to the museum. Please be aware that we cannot put every item on public display. Behind the scenes our stores protect a huge corpus of important items that tell the story of the Corps, and not being on display does not mean that an object is not important.

We are not able to accept everything that we are offered and we know that this is disappointing. What we don’t want to do is accept your donation if we already have identical examples in the collection, or if it doesn’t clearly tell the story of the Corps. If we can direct you to another museum collection that might be suitable for your donation, we will.

We cannot accept any unsolicited or on the day donations and we advise you to contact us in advance in every scenario. Unsolicited donations may be returned to sender.

If you have any further questions, please get in touch via the contact form or by email to information@rlcmuseum.com.
