The Royal Logistic Corps formed on April 5th 1993 through the amalgamation of the Royal Corps of Transport, the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, the Pioneer Corps, the Army Catering Corps and the Postal and Courier branch of the Royal Engineers. The Museum tells the story of the RLC and its Forming Corps, including the Royal Army Service Corps which preceded the Royal Corps of Transport.
Today the RLC is the largest corps in the British Army and has responsibility for thousands of vehicles, as well as ordnance, depots, fuel and stores. The job of a logistician is to make sure that the Army is supplied, moved and sustained, and the Corps marches under the regimental motto ‘We Sustain’, adopted from the Army Catering Corps when the RLC was formed.
The RLC have served in every major theatre of the last thirty years including Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus, Bosnia and Kosovo, but they build on a pedigree of soldiering spanning back 300 years.
